What I'm Watching on #Netflix

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

This week's picks from Netflix Instant Watch:

TV Show:
Mad Men. Quiana over at Harlem Love Birds recommended this show so I decided to give it a whirl. I almost didn't make it past the pilot episode. The show is froth with sexism and racism. Plus, there is the ubiquitous cigarette smoking...in the bedroom, in the office, on the train, on the elevators, in the bathroom, while washing dishes. I get it, everyone smoked back then. The misogynistic and racist jokes are a little overboard too. I get it, it was the 1960s. I was all a little too much for my palette, but I pushed through. I'm now five episodes in and glad I gave it a second chance. I want to know what secrets Mr. Don Draper is hiding. I also see that Miss Peggy is going to be a major player and I plan to stick it out see what that girl has up her sleeve!

Movies:
No Strings Attached. Two words: skip. it.

I've heard a lot about Mad Men, but haven't watched it. In fact, I've watched only a few TV shows since Little Miss was born, because if she's awake, she has a fit if I try to watch TV. If she is asleep, I'm either scurrying around trying to do the things I can't when she is awake or sleeping, usually not at the same time. :-) How is it that you have a toddler and a new, new born and you're getting so much blogging done?!?! Does he sleep a lot or are just really good at typing one-handed or what?

Thanks for the mention! I can totally see how it can be hard to get into, but I used to be in the ad industry so I guess that's what hooked me. You will especially like it as it progresses and picks up more on what happens in civil rights and world events.

I've heard a lot about Mad Men, but I haven't started watching it yet. My husband and I are excited for the season premiere of Dexter.
