Baby Log: 1 Year and 12 Weeks Old

Sunday, November 7, 2010

No photos this week. I am tired of the blurry and underexposed pictures produced by our crappy camera. Our Halloween photos are subpar, and I'll be a chimp's aunt before I let our Christmas photos turn out the same. I desperately need/want a digital SLR and I truly believer that either SITS or Santa will grant my wish. Meanwhile in Marlie's world...
  • She has discovered the toilet paper and nothing pleases her more than to pull it off the roll.
  • Her two upper lateral incisors have poked out. I hope this means the worst is over (for now). I had her chewing on cinnamon sticks all week. I also ordered a new amber necklace from Amberforsale since the one we got from another store seems to have lost its potency.
  • She loves saying "dog" and she calls everything with fur and a tail a dog...cats, squirrels
  • It's getting chilly here, but girlfriend does not like covers. At least she has her footie pajamas.
  • With my $75 CSN gift code, we bought Marlie her very own desk: It has a chalkboard top and a safety hinge to prevent the top from falling on her fingers. We will be working with her Montessori director to set up a classroom for her equipped with her favorite workbooks and learning activities and practical life development tools. Right now, she is very into wiping down her tray with her spray bottle and sponge.

  • Damon and I get to go on dates Thursday afternoons thanks to his new flex-schedule. He goes into work early and leaves at 2:30. Marlie is at school until 6, so we get some much needed us-time. This week we waled to the Arts District and enjoyed pizza and wine. I felt like a teenage who snuck out of the house in the middle of the night!
  • I am celebrating three nice prizes this week:
I won 3 tickets to the Yo Gabba! Gabba! Live! performance in a giveaway sponsored by
Plum Organics on Organic Baby Resource. Marlie has no idea who these characters are since she has never seen the show, but she loves music and I think she'll have a good time. I also won a $50 gift certificate to Smiles Across Miles Cards, which I am using to get holiday cards and a $55 gift code to CSN Stores from I Know How Is Babby Formed.

Love that desk! How cool that it has a chalkboard top? That is going to be something that is so useful for years and years to come.

Feeling your pain on the camera situation. Seeing as I have yet to win a single giveaway you have much better odds of winning the SITS contest! What is your lucky secret?

BTW I'm green with envy over your midday dates with Damon. Enjoy ; )

I love that desk! We have an easel, but now I wish I had bought a desk instead. Actually, I didn't even know that there were desks like that.

That toilet paper thing - Grr! Lewis not only follows me into the bathroom but I have to fight him to not have all the toilet paper in a pile on the floor.

I wanted to take Lewis to see YGG Live but I just couldn't justify the cost at the time. I tried so hard to win tickets. Lucky you! You will have a great time. Its all dancing, music and bright colors.
