Comment Consideration #1

Monday, December 26, 2011

This is a new meme. I borrowed the concept from Tooje at Circling the Square Table. She had the great idea to answer reader comments and questions in a blog post. I do reply to M&M readers by email, but I not everyone is privy to that content. This way I get to expound with you all...

Tooje...
"What a trip. Traveling with a toddler is so, so, so exhausting. Dealing with crazy family just tops it off and pushes one over the edge. I totally get it. BUT...sacrifices for that special meet and greet, eh? :) Did they hit it off?"
  • I would never travel with a toddler alone while pregnant ever again. But, yes, it was so worth it. She fell in love with her uncle. Every day she has been asking to go on the plane to see him again.

"Off topic - would love to see you post about how pregnancy is different the second time around."
  • I don't think I have enough to say to fill up a whole post. Physically, this pregnancy feels easier in many ways. I had mild nausea for only weeks 8-11 and that rundown tired feeling was over by week 13, but I'm still exhausted from chasing a toddler all day. One good thing is that I don't have any or the back pain or leg cramps that sent me running to a prenatal chiropractor last time. I think it's because my body is accustomed to carrying a baby now and I was also lucky enough to have gotten into shape with Insanity and P90X right before I got pregnant. It's funny too because I am not as health conscious with this pregnancy. I'm not exercising regularly and I indulge all my cravings, especially Mexican food. That would explain how I gained 25 pounds in two trimesters. I'm not especially worried though. I think this baby is going to be a lot bigger than Marlie was at birth. The biggest difference between my pregnancy with Marlie and chocolate chip is mostly psychological. I'm just more chill with this one. Last time, I was reading pregnancy books and websites every day and acting a bit neurotic with preparations. I was probably driving my husband and midwife crazy with my constant worrying. I'm a lot calmer this time around about being pregnant, but I am freaking out about how I am going to manage a toddler and a newborn.

I love this meme! What a great idea. Especially liked to see your thoughts on pregnancy the 2nd time around. I just *might* be ready myself in 2013 ;-)

My second pregnancy was so easy, it was awesome! And she was my biggest baby of all of them, 9 lb 12 oz. (my smallest was 8 lb 15 oz). Still, she must just have carried "just right" or something. I could have stayed pregnant forever and had no problem with going 11 days past my due date (she was also my only late baby). I think the fact that Chocolate Chip is bigger supports my "boy" feelings. Has anyone started a lottery yet? I'll stake $5! :-)

Love the meme idea and yay for answering my question! I think I will have a different kind of pregnancy because I'm going to have to pay constant attention to my diet. I do not want to have 80lbs to lose again!

I had 4 different pregnancies! And you'll do fine with a toddler and newborn. The first months can be rocky, but I think Marlie will like playing "little Mama."

I have to say that I feel similarly chilled out this pregnancy too, and I feel like I was relatively chilled out during my first pregnancy too. I guess, this time I feel like "I've been there, done that" so I don't sweat the small stuff. And oh yes, I'm so glad I don't have those super painful, "omg, I'm gonna cry" leg cramps this time either. The leg cramps I've had have been pretty mild and easy to stretch out.

Glad you did a comment consideration. I really enjoy when I do them. :) Especially when I get really thought provoking or funny comments to respond to. I'll let you know when I do another if you want to again, that way I can link up and give you a shout-out.

Love this idea. When I was pregnant with Naveen I didn't know how I would ever handle two. You just do. And you will.
