That's Just My Baby Daddy

maternity photo of parents-to-bedaddy and baby Marlie

Dear Husband Baby Daddy,

Listen, I know you're not fond of the moniker but that's what you are now! I admit I was worried what you'd be like as a daddy since you didn't grow up around babies (or have a very good role model). We both know the pain of absent fathers and deadbeats dads all too welMarlie and daddy loungingl. Is that the real reason we waited so long to have a child of our own? Deep down, were we both worried that we might repeat the cycle of the broken homes we came from? All I know is that having a baby with you was worth the nine-year wait. On the morning our daughter was born, I saw a look of fierce love on your face when the nurse placed her in your arms. I knew right then that she couldn't be in more capable hands (hands that would never let her go). I am impressed--scratch that--I am in love with the way you have embraced fatherhood. From swaddling to rocking baby girl to sleep to changing poopie diapers to playing tummy time...you do it all and relish every minute of it! It's your birthday, but I have received the best present...a loving father for my beautiful little girl.

I'm in bits, really I am. So good to see and hear the honesty and love that flowed from your posting. That is the best gift you could have given to precious Marlie and that was to provide her with such a Daddy. Love it . . all of it. Happy Birthday lovely Daddy!

I showed baby daddy your birthday wishes before he left for work. He was touched (in his own crusty, I-don't-show-emotions way). Thanks ladies!

Aaahhh, a Libra daddy. :) I know for certain that he's wonderful then...not to toot or anything, but Libras are AWEsome. Ha!

This letter is very sweet and I think it would be a wonderful keepsake for Marlie to read when she gets old enough to appreciate the true worth a man and father can be to a child. Lord knows you still have those teen years to wrangle in!

Happy Birthday Baby Daddy Damon.

How brilliant of you to marry a Libra "tee-hee!". I LOVED the sentiment you've dedicated to Marlie's daddy! I tell ya, there is nothing sweeter (okay, maybe some things, but this is still in the Top 5) than watching your husband evolve into an excellent father. I tell my girls all the time (no joke!) that they owe me BIG TIME for choosing such an excellent man with whom to procreate! Sounds like you're just as blessed, and I'm happy to hear that. I LOVE LOVE!!

Your baby daddy sounds JUST LIKE my baby daddy. 8^) I'm telling you, they just don't make 'em any better than that!
