Baby Log: 1 Year and 5 Weeks Old

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Marlie and Me have been convalescing most of the week (me with a cold and her with teething). We are both very tired. It's no picnic being sick when you are a parent. I just want to nurse my cold and she wants to nurse. I just want to sleep and she wants to play. You get the picture. My little energizer bunny...

Here's what else went down this week...
  • Marlie is quite the chatterbox. Her favorite word is no, but she doesn't just say it once. She goes no-no-no-no-no. She also likes to talk nonstop in her baby babble, but she will also pause and wait for you to reply. Then she starts talking again and gesturing with her hands. She also makes this earnest face like she is having a real conversation with you. :-]
  • The teething is on again. She is constantly rubbing her gums, picking at her food, not sleeping well, and just generally cranky. She is having a rough time, which means we are having a rough time. She better get some teeth soon.
  • Speaking of sleeping. I think it's time to put and end to the co-sleeping or get a bigger bed. Our full-size bed is getting crowded and Marlie sleeps bad, meaning she is all over the place! She gets up and flops around and crawls over us trying to get into a comfortable position, but she wakes us up in the process. I also have to sleep defensively because I might get an elbow to the eye or a foot in my chest. I wind up with half of me hanging off the sides to give her a wide berth.
  • Marlie has been streaking around the house since she figured out how to take off her fitted diaper, before she could only remove the cover. Another amazing feat of magic from baby Houdini!
  • Me: I finished reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and then I watched the Swedish movie adaption on our Netflix box. The movie was okay. I found the subtitles hard to follow. They flashed on the screen so fast. I found out that I won two Blogfest giveaways: a $25 Target Gift Card from Surviving Motherhood and the book A Lucky Child from Mom vs the Boys. I also did Blogmania this week, visited 165 blogs in two days and entered 85% of the giveaways. I am still waiting to see if I won some prizes. It would be a shame if I didn't win a little something, something after all that work!

Some times I get exhausted just reading about Marlie, much less actually having to chase her myself! I hope you were able to convalesce some over the weekend!

You and Marlie look so much alike. She looks so adorable with all that food on her. I'm sure she is loving the freedom. I'm a little uptight but I want to be more relax when I'm a mommy. I don't want to restrict my kids too much. Looks like you're doing a great job. By the way, I gave you blog award simply because I think you're awesome--come get it :)

You deserve an aware for co-sleeping in a full-sized bed. My goodness! We have a king and it feels like a twin when Lewis occasionally joins us! We both hug the edges of the bed while he rotates his body like a clock through all the positions!

I feel you on the teething. It is first year molar time so it could be the worst ones of all. I think we are getting those now. He's handling it better now but we had a few nights where he woke up screaming. Poor baby!

I love baby convos. No real words here besides "DaDa" but lots of gesturing and hands open like he is really saying something...to somebody LOL.

Yay, prizes!

The Babby does the whole 'let's have a real conversation' thing, too. It cracks me up, especially since she's pretty vocal with real words nowadays. But every now and then she's suddenly all "Gabagaduhduh? Zah! Bigigigidow... Dibdibidib!"

We co-slept with ours and my last one only slept sideways in the bed. It's a wonder my kidneys ever healed from him kicking them all night!

Wow, 165 blogs in two days! You deserve a giveaway just for that itself.

My kids slept with us a lot in those early years. It's tough, but I'm sure it will all work out soon. Fingers crossed for you :) I want to read that book too. Sounds good.

Hope you feel better soon & Marlie cuts those teeth.I hate being sick! Once I'm well I have so much work to do. So, I usually cut my sickness short.LOL
That dirty "NO"! They say no to everything. I enjoy when they start talking. Especially the way they know what they're doing.
185 blogs! How did you keep count. Another thing I enjoy, meeting new blogs & bloggers. Have a good week!

Do you remember that song, "We will, we will, Rock you! Rock you!"

Well, every time I see this pic of Marlie, I hear it in my head like this... "I got egg on my face, a big disgrace, laughing my head off all over the place"

I have NO IDEA why that pops in my head!!!! Just cracks me up.
