They are so rampant in the schools now among the youth. If I had a child today, I would not send them to public school. The Redhead Riterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15146525055317050737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745513252224031567.post-44134629635612300902010-08-27T22:46:04.306-04:002010-08-27T22:46:04.306-04:00Wow...great story. I'm in my late 20's and I've never smoked a cigarette, never tried drugs, and never drank in college. As you know, I am Jamaican too and I get the ganja questions directed to me way too often (but it doesn't offend me). It's actually pretty fun! I think it's important to discuss these things with your children but I also think that actions speak louder than words--so likely Marlie will emulate her mumma and puppa :)Mrs. Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10379949037095569199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745513252224031567.post-68425886852367185352010-08-27T15:01:02.855-04:002010-08-27T15:01:02.855-04:00I never once asked my parents what they tried in t...I never once asked my parents what they tried in their past, and at 32, I still do not know.

I'm not sure that you have to share everything you did in your youth to teach your children. I definitely think lessons can be taught and learned without seeing or hearing the ill effects it had on others. Not that my past or my hubs' is worth hiding, but I'm a little old school and I think parents' lives before kids were around is sometimes better left there. :)jmthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15910737494137891606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745513252224031567.post-38020152215161256302010-08-27T14:06:29.926-04:002010-08-27T14:06:29.926-04:00I don't know that anything my parents said or ...I don't know that anything my parents said or did affected my desire for drugs or alcohol. I personally never liked feeling totally out of control so I don't get sloppy drunk and I've never tried weed.

My father has been a habitual (weed) user since college. It never seemed to affect his life or ours. In fact, I can't say that I've ever seen him acting high.

I will say that it made me think twice about the claims that it isn't addictive. If it isn't why is my 50+ y/o father still smoking?!?keyalushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12706394687703975927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1745513252224031567.post-15590643393809071312010-08-27T03:55:16.930-04:002010-08-27T03:55:16.930-04:00LOL! I don't know if they just assume they know what types of things I did or they aren't curious or what, but not one of them has asked me or DH what we did as kids.Maureenskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09693317239250946604noreply@blogger.com
